CHAPTER NEWS

Rholl Bounce

Every September, Omicron Nu hosts an Ice Cream Social to collect money and school supplies for local elementary schools. For the 201-2015school year the chapter donated all supplies to Merrick Moore Elementary School.

Operation BigBookBag

Held every November surrounding Founder’s Day, SGRho Week is a themed series of programs and events that aim to satisfy the sorority's international targets while engaging the campus community.

Every Spring, Omicron Nu hosts the biggest skate party of the year to raise funds for the local charity of their choice. The chapter can be seen here with Sorors from North Carolina Central University, UNC Chapel Hill, Shaw University, Johnson C. Smith University and allover North Carolina.

The brunch, which is the chapter’s signature program, is used to honor high achieving African and African-American students who have been nominated by Duke faculty. Every April, the chapter selects two scholars to award a scholarship of $500.00 each.

Internationally, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., gives leadership, service, and resources toward removing barriers and inequalities so that all people of America may develop their potential. Locally, Omicron Nu works to carry out these goals on Dukes’ campus and in the larger Durham community.
